Russia, to me, has always been an interesting country. Given their rich history, the revolutions and the rule of the Czars to the disintegration of U.S.S.R., it always has a story to tell about itself. It is perhaps the only country that I know of which has Chess as its National Sport and their players over the years have lived up to that status.
There are things about Russia which no one knows and I attempt to bring to your notice, one such aspect of their History.I am not sure how many of you actually know about the terms "Holodomor or Golodomor" but I promise you that if you keep on reading, you will know about these interesting terms for sure.
The literal meaning of the world "Holodomor" is mass hunger. There was a time in Russia when people had nothing to eat and a large mass of them starved to death and nothing was done to help them out.It is more famously known as the Soviet Famine of 1932-33 which resulted in mass starvation. There are people who argue that it might have been designed to carry out an attack on Ukraine and thus, should be classified as genocide.
There are many more interesting aspects to the incident which claimed thousands of lives. It came to my notice and I thought it was appropriate to make my readers aware of it. If you want to know more about it, all you need is to go to holodomor
I bet you will find a lot more information there and can add to the debate that has been going on for many decades now.
