It was an agonising loss to the Kiwis yet again but it was heartening to see the Indian side claw back into the game after they were outclassed for the first 30 overs of the game.
Many ifs and buts would be raised but the fact is that had there been a normal mid off for the last ball, the game would have gone into the super over.
However, these are indications that things would only get better from here on so lets hope the worst part of the tour is past us.

Too many things to do!
It is the end of February and I just cannot manage my time well enough to pack everything that I want to do in a single day. It seems as if 24 hours in a day are not enough.
Not that I am killing myself by studying day and night but I'm afraid, that is exactly what I have to do from now on.When I thought about spending the whole of my last semester here in Delhi, I was sure that it will be all work and no play. But no, it has the downside to it as well, because living with your family, you have parents right on your backs to see that you don't keep on playing chess all the time.
As things stand now, I have to submit a synopsis about my training, appear for a test on 8th March, submit the mid term report a few days after that and then prepare for the first FIDE Rated tournament of my life. It will be my first shot at an international rating and I would not want Rs 1500 to go in vain.
Let's hope that I am able to maintain some sort of balance in all these things.

Time to face the Holodomor Truth
Russia, to me, has always been an interesting country. Given their rich history, the revolutions and the rule of the Czars to the disintegration of U.S.S.R., it always has a story to tell about itself. It is perhaps the only country that I know of which has Chess as its National Sport and their players over the years have lived up to that status.
There are things about Russia which no one knows and I attempt to bring to your notice, one such aspect of their History.I am not sure how many of you actually know about the terms "Holodomor or Golodomor" but I promise you that if you keep on reading, you will know about these interesting terms for sure.
The literal meaning of the world "Holodomor" is mass hunger. There was a time in Russia when people had nothing to eat and a large mass of them starved to death and nothing was done to help them out.It is more famously known as the Soviet Famine of 1932-33 which resulted in mass starvation. There are people who argue that it might have been designed to carry out an attack on Ukraine and thus, should be classified as genocide.
There are many more interesting aspects to the incident which claimed thousands of lives. It came to my notice and I thought it was appropriate to make my readers aware of it. If you want to know more about it, all you need is to go to holodomor
I bet you will find a lot more information there and can add to the debate that has been going on for many decades now.

Graduating... in more things than one!
Let us get to the topic straightaway, as I am running short of time.
I am about to graduate from college with an Engineer's label in a few months from now but that is not something I am so excited about. I am talking about the other thing, which is more interesting..
The story goes like this...
Being the youngest and probably the only driver in my family having the right balance of skill and confidence I am always under the pump whenever I talk about taking out the car alone. I took mom to the doctor last week and she was quite convinced with my driving skills, so is my brother and bhabhi.
So,all this while, the big deal was about trying to convince dad about the fact that I am now trained enough to take the car anywhere, without denting other cars all around. Today, I planned with mom to go to pick dad up from his office, which is a good 12 km from my place and most importantly, it is in the heart of Delhi, so you expect heavy(and I really mean HEAVY) traffic at that time. We told him that I was going there with a driver, so he need not worry, as I would not drive.
However, we reached there and I drove him back safely so I think this is my graduation as a driver. :)

Know the Dolphins better
A lot of us, including myself, have always been amused and mystified with the human friendly behavior of the Dolphins. They are said to be the most intelligent animal apart from man and they are the most friendly to us as well.
I have seen numerous events about them on television in which they perform stunts for us or are at their playful best, without ever being dangerous to human life. This post encourages you to know more about them and delve deeper into their world.

Just by clicking on the above banner, you would be guided to a website which would give you all the information you need about dolphins, apart from the videos and images you would never have seen before.Just give it a try and see for yourself!

Delhi 6 Review
The much awaited movie from R. Omprakash Mehra released today and I just came back from PVR Priya, where I went to book tickets for the Sunday Noon Show. However, it was quite surprising that they refused to give me the tickets, saying that advance booking had not yet opened. It was surprising because according to their rules, the advance booking should have started yesterday itself. On further probing, I came to know that their schedule was not out yet, for Sunday. Again, this was an unacceptable excuse, because Schedules are out every Friday.
All this leads to only one conclusion, which has been supported by other websites as well, that Delhi 6 is not living upto the mark. I know that the first show audience has come out just an hour ago and it is too early to pass judgements. Still, going by the responses I got at PVR Priya, situated at the heart of South Delhi, the news is not encouraging and they are, in fact, considering reduction in the number of shows per day.
Buzz18.com has given it just one star out of five and I do not think you can completely disagree with them.

Update..
So, I'm full time into my training now and contrary to what I wanted, I HAVE to report there every day, week after week, for the next few days at least. However, if you take out the 34 km a side bus sojourn(twice a day) out of my schedule, I enjoy my time in the office. Have learned a few things there in the past week and this week I actually helped them increase the efficiency, as I was given the responsibility to carry out a few tasks and I did that without any fuss.
Apart form that, I think tomorrow is Rose Day, another of those overhyped days like Valentine's Day, when we have got nothing to do. I've observed that in the past few years, the cards and gift manufacturers have created unnecessary hype around these so called "festivals" to sell their goods. The sooner the youngsters of this country understand this, the better.
Now a new concept has emerged, i.e. of a Valentine's Week!
It is supposed to start from Rose Day and carries on till Valentine's day, i.e. 14th of feb.
gimme a break!

Meet your very own CARBON ADVISORS
We talk a lot about how much impact Carbon and its compounds have on the environment. This debate has been going on for decades now and it is now time we stopped this and did something more to help the cause.
The Carbon Advice Group have taken up precisely this responsibility. Just by visiting the website through the link I've given below, we will be able to calculate our daily contribution to the environmental Carbon, be it while driving a car, heating our homes or by flying to our favorite holiday destination.
More importantly, they will tell us the ways of keeping it in check. Once we sign up and follow their guidelines, they will issue certificate and stickers, which we can proudly flaunt on our car screens or luggages and demonstrate to our friends that we actually ARE doing something to keep the problem in check.
Sounds interesting?? Go ahead and click the banner below and secure a safer world for future.
